细节题

Seventeen-year-old Abby Yoon is determined to help children lead healthier lives through proper nutrition and physical activity. In America, 14% of children do not get more than one meal a day, and many urban families live in food deserts, where the access to fresh food is limited. Yoon saw the need to address this issue and founded the Sustainable Hunger Initiative, focusing on providing healthy food and educating communities about nutrition.

One of Yoon’s first projects was a community garden. This garden has produced over 3,000 pounds of fresh fruits and vegetables, which have been donated to local family centers and soup kitchens. Yoon believes that growing your own food fosters a closer connection to what you eat, while ensuring access to essential nutrients. Additionally, her group has cooperated with local farmers and ranchers to donate more than 45, 000 pounds of locally raised beef to those in need. To complement the food donations, Yoon also offers cooking and nutrition demonstrations, teaching people how to prepare healthy meals.

Yoon’s vision goes beyond providing food; she wants to empower communities to become selfsufficient. “The community garden can serve as a medium for nutrition education,” Yoon says. Her initiative encourages others to start their own gardens and learn about sustainable food practices.

Recognizing that a healthy lifestyle also includes physical exercise, Yoon has included a fitness program in her initiative. Many children in urban areas lack opportunities to play outside, so Yoon’s organization has donated over 600 bicycles and manages fitness programs for more than 7, 500 children.

Yoon’s efforts have inspired others to join her cause. So far, over 10, 000 volunteers have contributed their time to the community garden. What started as a dream for one teenager has blossomed into a movement that is making a real difference in people’s lives, proving that one person truly can inspire change.

Some vacations take you to destinations that feel futuristic, while archaeological (考古的) tourism transports you to the past. The following programs worldwide will offer you a unique experience. Several years ago, I began asking my friends and family to tell me their passwords. I had come to believe that these tiny personalized codes get . Yes, I understand why passwords are universally hated: the strains they put on our memory, the endless demand to update them, their sheer number. I hate them too. But there is more to passwords than their annoyance. In the fact that we construct them so that we (and only we) will remember them, they take on secret lives. Many of our passwords are filled with suffering, mischief, sometimes even poetry. Often they have rich backstories. There was the former prisoner whose password includes what used to be his identification number (“a reminder not to go back”); the childless 45-year-old whose password is the name of the baby boy she lost (“my way of trying to keep him alive, I guess”). Sometimes the passwords were playful. Several people said they used incorrect for theirs so that when they forgot it, the software automatically gave them the right one (“your password is incorrect”). There are times when murder is not committed because of cruelty. People may kill for other reasons such as anger, misunderstanding, and fear. Everyone has made mistakes because of such feeling. For society, it is a serious mistake to take the life of someone who has killed because it teaches everyone that forgiveness is unnecessary. “Buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo buffalo buffalo Buffalo buffalo” is a real sentence. Before the age of the smartphone, photographers had to learn how to use high-tech cameras and photographic techniques. Today, with the huge range of camera apps on our smartphones, we’re all good amateur photographers, since the quality of smartphone images now nearly equals that of digital cameras. In the pursuit of sustainable living, the Earthship concept has become a symbol of innovation. Earthships, pioneered by architect Michael Reynolds, are habitats that use the power of nature and recycled materials to create self-sufficient living spaces. These structures reduce environmental impact and provide a unique approach to fighting climate change through architecture.
