Martin was always showing off to his family that he had the largest number of friends in school. He boasted about his popularity, believing that the more friends he had, the cooler he appeared to be. His constant boasts about his friendships made his family laugh, but one day, his father decided to put his confidence to the test. With a hint of a smile, he challenged Martin, saying, “Martin, I bet you the bike you’ve always wanted that some of your friends are only your classmates and not true friends.”

Martin, confident in his friendships, accepted the challenge without a second thought and asked, “But how can I test whether they are my friends?” His father replied with a mysterious smile, “I will give you a special item.”

Martin curiously watched as his father walked towards him, appearing to carry something heavy. But Martin couldn’t see anything in his hands.

His father explained, “You see this as a magic chair. It’s invisible and challenging to sit on it. Take it to your school, and if you manage to sit on it, the magic chair will be activated. Then you will be able to tell who are your real friends.” Martin was both excited and skeptical, but he took the challenge seriously.

The next day, during lunchtime, Martin gathered his friends to form a circle and said, “Friends, you’ll see my magic. Watch closely.” Martin tried sitting on the invisible chair but he fell. Everyone laughed. He made another attempt but fell again. The laughs continued. He tried again and did not fall this time. Instead, he was floating in the air.

Martin saw four of his friends—John, Abram, Juli, and Terry—carrying him up so he would not fall. While others who Martin thought were his friends did nothing but made fun of him every time he fell. Now he found out who were his real friends.
